1984 Aljo Aly Travel Trailer No Power

Topic: Skyline/Nomad/Aljo experiences requested
Posted By: Wabbit on 08/17/04 07:53am Looks like we have narrowed ourselves downward to the Skyline make of trailer. They really seem to take thier stuff together on construction. They seem to be the best quality we have seen, with Jayco being close.

What do you retrieve of your Skyline trailers? Any major flaws, problems with warranties, etc?

Now we just need to choose betwixt 3 models, 232LT, 248LT, 2600.

Posted By: Stefan on 08/17/04 08:27am Have used ours a lot this summer, and nosotros dear it!
I did a thourough inspection before finalizing my deal. Had the dealership practice some things to it similar caulking atound windows, and had them lube the stab jacks. Otherwise all else was very minor and I spent 3 hours going through it and around it.

I concur, quality is at that place with decent price equally well.

Posted Past: TomWelch on 08/17/04 05:13pm I've done all-encompassing research on
Layton and Nomad TTs by Skyline

Posted By: 6_fan on 08/17/04 02:12pm 15 months and still quite satisfied. Great floorplan for us. Use it at least once a month, fifty-fifty thru the declared wintertime here. Then far, no construction bug are evident.
I did supercede the cheesy built-in stereo with a good Kenwood automotive unit of measurement, and added a skillful set of speakers up in the bedroom, but that seems to be a fairly common deficiency across many brands.

We have had no bug withal -(we've only had it about 3 months now) and I hope we don't. In that location was just one electrical problem when we were going to bring it home from the dealer and they got it fixed. It was a brusque in the wall.

Except for a couple of small "bugs" that the dealer fixed without a problem information technology has been problem free. The "bugs" were zilch that would have kept me from camping ground! It is a great trailer. All of Skylines trailers are UL approved. I think you volition enjoy whatsoever Skyline product you get.

Posted By: knipp4la on 08/17/04 07:31pm Don't know if information technology is pertinent but my 23 ft 1987 Nomad is still going stiff. I've had a few leaks I attribute to age but equally soon every bit 1 starts, I notice the source and cease information technology. I've been thinking almost a new TT but afterwards reading about all the problems with newer ones, I may just stick with what I take. Wish I had a slide for more room. And the paint is getting actually thin from washing off those black streaks!
Posted By: reo on 08/17/04 08:39pm I have the Layton 250. The water heater pressure relief valve failed and the gutter separated in the middle causing h2o to leak on the canopy. Other than that it has been adept.

Posted By: djousma on 08/18/04 05:30am We purchased a Layton 2940 this spring, and dearest information technology. It has the superslide, and homo that makes for a ton of room..... We besides had a couple of minor bugs(furnace not sealed to the outside elements acquired a water leak when information technology rained hard with the canopy upwardly, and the safety boot for the T.V.antenna slipped off causing some other leak). I'm real happy with the quality, just my wife already has the problems to upgrade to a Pilgrim. The 2940 is heavy though with a dry out weight of 6500, and a GVWR of 9900.

Posted Past: Southward Sullivan on 08/18/04 07:45am Our first TT was a 14 year onetime Aljo Aly. Bought it from the original owner and used information technology eight more seasons with no repairs - but regular upkeep. When we sold information technology, (it was 22 years old) we got the aforementioned price we paid and information technology was still in GREAT status!

Purchased a new Layton Sentry 237 5ver in Dec 2003. We LOVE it. Are thinking of getting a larger 5ver and the Layton 275 is first on our list.

When nosotros bought the '81 TT, we chosen the manufactory with questions and they were very responsive and helpful. With our new one, we felt there was a design flaw in the drain of the black tank. Spoke to the dealer and also wrote a letter to Skyline. Within a week of mailing the letter of the alphabet, we received a phone call from the Skyline factory request what they could practice to make us happy. (We WERE happy, we just wanted to bring to their attention what we thought was a design flaw. [emoticon]) They decided to install a new black tank and it is ameliorate.

As a side notation, we have looked at many new TTs and 5vers of several different brands - we experience that for the money - Skyline is the fashion to get!

Posted By: Stefan on 08/20/04 09:31am Hi Wabbit

Nosotros have the 232 LT and we dear it!

I love the sink right at the back door for clean upwardly for the kids etc.
Bunks are nice, with having their own socket if the kids want to plug in something.
Lots of storage in it, I converted the large cupboard in kitchen to a pantry, now holds a lot of food etc. I as well put a shelf in the closet above the night stand to increment capacity.

Things I don't similar on this trailer, bathroom a little pocket-sized, and I would love a queen isle bed vs the queen nosotros take in the 232. I beleive the 248 has an isle bed??

On Edit, no it does not and in fact simply has a double bed vs. the 232 with a queen! The 242LT has an isle bed and bunks. Here is food for idea on the 248. The dinette is on the back side of trailer. I like it on the other side like the 232 because, easier to look out window to cheque on kids, plus the furnace exhaust and hot h2o tank are on the 'dorsum' side on the 232. If you accept the furnace running ( nosotros practise here in the mountains) that exhaaust vent is HOT and it bothers me to recall of the kids playing right side by side to it. They will burn themselves if they trip and fall and accomplish out and touch it.

Tin can't become incorrect with this trailer...

Posted By: slingo56 on 08/20/04 12:01pm Nosotros were looking at both the 2600 and the 242LT. Per the Skyline website the 242LT is 25'6" with a dry weight of 4625lbs. The 2600 is 27'11' and 4575lbs. Information technology seems like something is wrong here the 2600 is not a light and is longer however weighs less than the 242LT. Do you suppose the weight on the website is wrong for the 2600.

Did you come across a different weight for the 2600?

Weight on the 2600 was 4890# fairly loaded. I don't recollect the 242LT off the top of my head.

Posted By: rvlifer on 08/xx/04 02:28pm skyline has Aljo, Layton and Nomad 26'eight" superslide floorplan, darned if I tin can tell the difference from a specs perspective. Anyone know what the difference is between the models, or is it just cosmetics (color+cloth)?
Posted By: mhweb on 08/19/04 09:45pm Ours has had a few problems, some of which the dealer fixed, some I did. Overall though, information technology is well designed and what I would consider overbuilt. Information technology is going on its 3rd flavour, still looks new and everything works. If you do a search, most folks tend to exist satisfied with the make(southward). A common comment is that you get a lot of trailer for the money.

Posted Past: LAdams on 08/twenty/04 06:49am My 1999 Nomad Model 2700 (front kitchen) is 6 years old now and has been towed 20,000+ miles and is nonetheless going strong and is dry and comfortable...

It has been THE Most reliable rig I have had in a xx twelvemonth period and 7 RV's total... I would "buy another in a heartbeat"...

We looked at new one's earlier this year as we were thinking most a slide out (the 2700 has no slide) merely after looking and not being existent excited about whatsoever floor plan that was available, nosotros decided to go along our current Nomad for a few more years...

We had a small problem develop with the lower front siding after nearly 5-6000 miles and it seperated from the frame simply that was quickly and cheerfully repaired by our dealer and we have had Naught problems since... Dealer said it was due to staples that were driven in with too much force at the factory causing them to be driven THROUGH the aluminum siding... Oh yes, I have been through two sets of fender skirts that have cracked due to wind vibration... If you tin become your TT without them, I would do that... I at present take mine reinforced so I anticipate no further problems...

Skyline TT'due south (Nomad, Layton, Aljo, N Trail) offer a lot of value for the money... You can buy a more than expensive trailer merely for the type camping we practice the Nomad is a perfect fit...

I don't call up you lot would be disappointed with whatsoever Skyline rig that you decide to purchase...

All-time Regards,
Les

Posted By: rondynowincomfort on 08/19/04 09:09pm Nosotros bought a 2004 Skyline Nomad 1800 in May. We dear information technology. Information technology pulls dainty
and the floor programme is great. Of all the TT we looked at this i was
meant for us. The vanity with sink is outside the water closet then it is convienent for ane to use the sink while someone else is in the bath. I got a alot of funny looks when I would get into a trailer and do a sit downwardly test in the bathroom, with door shut. To me room was a must. Our trailer is plenty big plenty for us and our dog. When nosotros desire to accept company we even so have plenty of room for them to. I call up we got a cracking deal for the coin nosotros spent.
